| THE TOUR : Rheims, capital city of the Champagne region and the city of coronations where most of the French Kings were crowned. Although the town suffered much destruction during World Wars I & II the Gothic cathedral and the Saint-Remi Basilica where the coronation ceremonies took place have been preserved. Today, Rheims is a charming provincial town famous for its champagne cellars, production and hillsides dotted with vineyards. Reims is also the city of coronations where most of the French Kings were crowned. Our morning orientation tour of Reims includes a guided visit of the Gothic cathedral. At the superb Mumm champagne cellars, created in 1827, keeping 25 million bottles, we complete the visit with a tasting of the famous Cordon rouge Champagne wine. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy the picturesque landscape of vines between Reims and Epernay. At Epernay we visit the prestigious wine cellars of Moët & Chandon* and we taste their reputed wine.
