AUVERS & GIVERNY  / AG

"Lunch at the American Museum of GIVERNY"
THE TOUR:

Claude Monet lived at Giverny from 1883 until his death in 1926. In the surroundings of his home, Monet created the famous flower and
water garden with its Japanese bridge which became his main source of inspiration. Vincent Van Gogh was also drawn to this part of
France and spent the last months of his life at Auvers painting one canvas every day. He died at Auvers and was buried in the small
cemetery of the village. Our lunch at the American museum (delightful cadre with beautiful terrace) is followed by a visit of the
exceptional collection of paintings by the American impressionist artists. The American museum was created in 1993 by Mr. and Mrs.
Terra from the Terra museum in Chicago with the aim of exposing the works of the American painters who studied with Claude Monet in
France during the 19th and 20th century.

ITINERARY:

We cross Paris by the north western districts and take the motorway in the direction of Pontoise arriving in Auvers sur-Oise (average 1
hour journey).

Our day begins with a guided visit on foot of the village as far as the cemetery with Vincent Van Gogh's grave. We continue in the
direction of Giverny along the scenic routes of the Val d'Oise region and arrive around midday. Lunch at the American museum followed
by free time to visit the collection of paintings. The remainder of our afternoon is dedicated to our visit of Claude Monet's house and
gardens. Due to the limited size of Monet's home, guided inside visits are not permitted and for this reason, our guide will provide full
information on the house during our visit of Monet's gardens before allowing free time for an inside visit.
Return to Paris around 05:30 PM
